The members of NELCE welcome you to our website and hope that you will find all the information you are looking for on our web pages.  Read on to learn more about us and what we do!

Mission Statement: NELCE (North East London Community Engagement) is a resident-based, action-oriented volunteer community group focused on celebrating and strengthening the community of Northeast London. Through our work, we:

  • Create a forum for residents to voice concerns and issues in Northeast London
  • Seek to promote and develop a strong sense of community pride and participation
  • Provide opportunities for community leadership
  • Celebrate and engage our diverse and vibrant community
  • Develop a stronger NELCE identity within our boundaries

Hurry! The opening date for the 2010 Northeast Multi-Cultural Market is fast approaching!  Mark your calendars now! SAFETY FIRST IN NORTHEAST LONDON GETS RESIDENTS NEW CROSSWALK! A new signaled crosswalk was installed on June 10th at Huron and Vesta, near the Beacock Library in response to northeast residents' concerns about pedestrian safety! Community Engagement: Creates, plans and organizes new and ongoing events and activities for NELCE, and/or co-hosts events in partnership with other service organizations.

Neighbourhood Development: Works to build a better community for the neighbourhoods of NE London. Areas of focus include poverty, transportation, community gardens, public safety, and neighbourhood enhancements.

Community Relations: Explores new relationships and engages with community groups, agencies and/or service organizations. Also develops partnerships with community agencies, organizations on public events.

Communications, Organization & Promotions: Increase awareness, visibility and the membership of NELCE through improved communications and promotional strategies. Also responsible for professional development and fundraising.

 

In line with its vision, "Building opportunities for healthy and inclusive communities," the London InterCommunity Health Centre [LIHC] is committed to fully supporting the work of NELCE.  The LIHC's core values include inclusivity, innovation, professionalism, accountability, advocacy, and excellence, and NELCE strives to ensure that these values are met and maintained daily in its work and actions.
