The vision of the Community Relations Action Area is to nurture positive, cooperative relationships between NELCE, services, agencies and organizations in the Northeast London community and the City of London in order to respond to community needs. We also aim to establish and strengthen our rapport within the community in order to raise and maintain NELCE's public profile. NELCE will establish mutually beneficial and collaborative relationships through community outreach programs that will improve the quality of life in our community, including neighbourhood development and community engagement.
Committee Composition: At least one to two Coordinator(s) positions will be filled from this Committee’s membership. NELCE members voluntarily choose whether they wish to serve on this Committee. The Committee size is undefined.
Primary Objectives:
- To seek ways to promote and develop community pride and participation through community outreach
- To identify and initiate community relations with various organizations and services within our boundaries
- To strengthen community relations with existing partners in the community
- To investigate opportunities to work collaboratively with services, agencies and organizations in the North East London community and City of London
- To engage with North East London residents in order to create an awareness of NELCE, identify their needs, wants and concerns, and encourage their participation in our work
- To provide residents with the opportunities for community leadership through engagement in the planning and execution of outreach activities
- To establish and oversee the work of its Action Groups that carry out the work and objectives of this Action Area
Areas of focus in the COMMUNITY:
- Engaging with community agencies and organizations, etc. concerning the needs of the community
- Exploring relationships with community groups, committees, organizations, etc.
- Working with the business community
- Working with community agencies, organizations, etc. on workshops, seminars, etc.
- Promoting NELCE through linkages with other organizations
- Engaging with the NE Youth Council to determine possible shared objectives
- Gathering Community input on residents’ priorities and how NELCE might serve them
